Ben Bates was an intern at Periscope around the time I joined the studio, and we became friends almost right away. He's since become a full studio member and we, along with Dustin Weaver, have staked out a corner everyone calls "Awesomeville."

I'd written The Stain a couple years ago, in one of those rare moments when a story pops fully formed into my brain, and without giving much thought to what would happen to it once it was down. It was part of pitch package to Dark Horse Comics' Creepy anthology for a time, but I'm glad that didn't work out and I was able to collaborate on the story with Ben. It's much better for it, and it cemented our partnership—we're currently working on several other cool, original projects together.
